Kate Roe was our daughter, our sister and our friend. She died in a car accident, in 2021, when she was 19. Kate was a wonderful, special, young woman, who is loved and missed by all that knew her.
Kate touched many people and made many friends in her short life. After her passing, person after person, reached out to us with stories of Kate’s warmth and compassion, particularly toward those who were different or didn’t always fit in. The common thread that ran through all of these stories, and the way many chose to articulate how they remembered her was, very simply, that “Kate was kind”.
We were touched and humbled by these stories, and we wanted to do something that both celebrated Kate’s life and shared the simple message that was so important to her and that made an impression on so many. She lived near here much of her childhood and spent many hours at this exact spot with her friends, with her dogs and, sometimes, by herself, just listening to music and dancing while the sun went down. She always said this place made her happy and it is where we feel closest to her. And so, Kate’s Place was born of love and remembrance, and that simple message, Kind like Kate, became the theme for this very special place.
We hope you can spend some time here, enjoy the view and, when it’s time to leave, maybe take Kate’s message with you and share it with people you meet, particularly the ones that need a little extra kindness.
Thank you.
